Our promise

ItalyGo is a recommendation platform, not a complaint board. Reviews here should read like advice from a friend: personal, honest, specific and fair. These guidelines explain what we welcome and what we remove. They are part of our Terms & Conditions.

What makes a great contribution

  • Genuine experience: write about places you have actually visited.
  • Specific and useful: what did you order? Who was the occasion for? What made it memorable?
  • Kind and constructive: critique the experience, never attack people.
  • Your own photos: pictures you took yourself, of the food, the room, the moment.

What we remove

  • Hate speech, racism, sexism, harassment, threats or personal attacks.
  • Defamation — serious factual accusations presented as fact (e.g. health-code claims) without evidence.
  • Obscenity and sexually explicit content.
  • Fake reviews: written by the business, its competitors, or anyone without a real experience; paid or incentivised reviews not disclosed as such; review swaps.
  • Other people's photos, or photos of identifiable people without their consent.
  • Personal information — addresses of staff, phone numbers, full names of private individuals.
  • Spam, advertising, links to competitors, promo codes and referral schemes.
  • Political rants, off-topic content, and anything unlawful.

How moderation works

  • Content may be removed at any time at our discretion, with or without notice.
  • Repeated or serious violations lead to account suspension or permanent ban.
  • Business owners may publicly reply to reviews on their listing; they cannot remove them. Owners who believe a review is fake or defamatory can flag it to us via the contact form — we assess every report.
  • Nothing in these guidelines limits a business's own legal remedies; but ItalyGo is not an arbiter of disputes between guests and businesses.

A note on honesty

We take truthful reviews seriously — in both directions. We protect guests who report real problems in good faith, and we protect businesses from coordinated or fabricated attacks. If we conclude a review breaches these guidelines, we remove it regardless of who submitted it or whether the underlying experience was good.

Report something

To report a review or photo, use the contact form, choose "Website question or issue", and include the link. We prioritise reports about harassment, privacy and defamatory content.
